What a show Stipe put on at an intimate, cabaret style gig front of an enthusiastic full house.

This was an authentic, heartfelt recreation of REM’s music ensuring that fans, old and new, could experience the magic of hearing these songs played live with care, conviction, and affection.

Never in parody mode, the lead singer was a commanding, charismatic and mesmerising figure on stage.

Fan favourites like Man on the Moon, Nightswimming and Losing My Religion were interspersed  with deeper cuts into REM’s extensive back catalogue.

The sound, lighting and vibe were on the money and no one left Heswall Hall disappointed.

Hopefully Stipe keeps their promise and returns next year.

A special shoutout to the excellent support band, The Thomas Bradley Project – a local band with a big future.
