The Lighthouse Poppy

The poppy is a potent symbol of remembrance and members of the Knit and Natter Group at The Lighthouse Church have been busy producing hundreds of them to create a stunning installation ahead of November 11.

Some met at the church to knit, others did so from home while local charity Involve North West pitched in – their youngest crafter was just nine-years-old!

The project brought people together and was an opportunity to discuss the meaning of the poppy. One knit and natterer even recalled growing up in London and enduring The Blitz.

We think it’s a fabulous way to remember all those who fell in war. The church is encouraging anyone to call into the church, just over the road from us here at The Hall, and take a look.
